I assume that most of you think of swords and shields first thing when I might mention knight's weapons. You would be correct in that way of thinking because to tell the truth the most common weapon in knight artillery was the shield; but not every single knight carried that sharp, lengthy, silver sword with them to a battle. Different knights used different weapons, kind of like in our army today, some soldiers use machine guns and some use bazookas(KABOOM!). Knights would have different weapons for different missions. For head on slaughter they might have taken a sword or a "8"foot sized stick with a dagger at the end.
Even though knights had a wide variety of punishing tools, the wide variety wasn't necessarily
always there. Different weapons were invented at different time periods. In the 1400's, the mace was a popular tool to wield in Northern Europe. They're were many many weapons to a knight's eyes, like the sword,axe, and maces were three of them and there were many more to go with.
I liked the (kaboom) in the post it made me laugh. Sounds like the knights fought with a lot of different weapons.
ReplyDeleteYou had alot of voice in this post, it was very good. That is an interesting fact that not all the knights took swords into battle, I thought they all did but not all of them chose to use it. Hey, you learn something new every day.
